Fuse Film Festival

Heads up, film lovers: FUSE FILM FESTIVAL MANCHESTER is taking place this Sunday, May 12th and it is going to be one heck of a film event!

Fuse Film Festival Manchester is an upcoming all-day moving image extravaganza put on by students for students to combine the best up-and-coming talent with established artists. With over 30 short films to be screened on the day, the festival is going to be held this coming Sunday, May 12th, at the University of Manchester Students’ Union, Academy 2.

The festival was birthed from the Manchester Film Festival 2012 and its parent student society Fuse TV, and is being organised solely by the students of the University of Manchester in association with the Students’ Union and the Alumni Association. The Fuse Film Festival Manchester has been built to bring stories told through the medium of film closer to the ever expanding student population of Manchester and the North-West, as well as the wider community.

For a first-time film festival a staggering amount of just under 100 short films were submitted by UK as well as international filmmakers, both student and professional. Of these, 25 short films are going to be screened at the festival this Sunday across four categories: Student Shorts, Student Docs, Short Films and Short Docs.

To inspire young talent the festival will be screening the BAFTA Shorts 2013.

Budding filmmakers should come along to the From Film Student to Filmmakers talk held by Manchester University’s own graduate Alex Taylor – head of the up-and-coming video production company Cosmic Joke. Alex has just recently returned from shooting his first feature-length documentary titled Treasure Trapped and will be unveiling the cinematic trailer of the film at the festival, as well as sharing his insights and experiences.

Festival Day-pass: Student – £8; General Admission – £10; Early-bird – £6.
