It instigated conversations regarding what, or who the song may be about.<\/p>\n<p>Not only the song, but his entire album <em>Ivory<\/em> from which it originated lead to speculations about the likelihood of a relationship between Apollo and <strong>Frank Ocean<\/strong>. Comparisons have also been drawn between their music, ascribing Apollo as the new Frank Ocean \u2013 perhaps also due to Ocean\u2019s lack of releases in recent years.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Spotify Embed: 3 Boys\" style=\"border-radius: 12px\" width=\"100%\" height=\"352\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; fullscreen; picture-in-picture\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/embed\/album\/1Iw32lOJC5lfInKyA7Zzt1?utm_source=oembed\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Apollo has promoted his consistency with this new track, conveying an extremely emotive and intimate narrative. Yet, he maintains an almost jovial, nostalgic sound which makes his music comparable to several male artists aside from Frank Ocean such as\u00a0<strong>Daniel Caesar<\/strong>, <strong>Dominic Fike<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Joji<\/strong> who peaked in previous years.<\/p>\n<p>His soothing vocals are exploited mostly within the pre-chorus and chorus, along with the continuous delicacy of the beat and subtlety of guitar; a bitter-sweet tone is generated faultlessly. This tone, in addition to the direct address and questioning within the lyrics \u201cWhat should I do?<em>\u201d <\/em>creates a perfect portrayal of \u201cthe complexities that come with a relationship\u201d; as Apollo himself noted, discussing his development and release on a statement to <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchfork.com\/news\/omar-apollo-shares-new-song-3-boys-listen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pitchfork<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Fluidity and complexity has taken over relationships more and more in recent years, so &#8216;3 Boys&#8217; is cleverly targeting something that is topical for younger generations, who might resonate with exploring \u201csomething non-monogamous\u201d as he stated to Pitchfork, or struggling with discovering their desires.
