{"id":92911,"date":"2020-10-29T19:49:36","date_gmt":"2020-10-29T19:49:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mancunion.com\/?p=92911"},"modified":"2020-10-29T19:49:36","modified_gmt":"2020-10-29T19:49:36","slug":"zoom-halloween-party-your-ultimate-guide","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mancunion.com\/2020\/10\/29\/zoom-halloween-party-your-ultimate-guide\/","title":{"rendered":"Zoom Halloween party: Your ultimate guide"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Stuck inside for Halloween due to Covid-19 restrictions? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Have no fear: the Zoom party recipe is here! <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Just because we can\u2019t celebrate Halloween in our usual fashion, that doesn\u2019t mean we can\u2019t celebrate at all. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Here\u2019s a list of all the things you need to have a spooky night online with your friends. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Grab your laptop, charger, blanket, and Zoom passcode, and you\u2019re good to go.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>What to eat&#8230;<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Oh!-bergine veggie fright lasagne\u00a0<\/strong>by Georgina Davidson<\/p>\n<p>A messy but tasty take on the classic lasagne.<\/p>\n<p><b>Ingredients:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>400g cashew nuts<\/li>\n<li>250g cornflour<\/li>\n<li>3 tbsp apple cider vinegar<\/li>\n<li>200ml water<\/li>\n<li>4 cloves of garlic<\/li>\n<li>Salt to taste<\/li>\n<li>250ml almond milk<\/li>\n<li>2 whole onions<\/li>\n<li>2 tbsp tomato pur\u00e9e<\/li>\n<li>Oregano \/ Italian herbs to taste<\/li>\n<li>250ml red wine<\/li>\n<li>1 tin of chopped tomatoes<\/li>\n<li>250ml passata<\/li>\n<li>Handful of sliced black olives<\/li>\n<li>2 tsp capers<\/li>\n<li>Aubergine and courgette (as much as necessary, depending on the amount of people)<\/li>\n<li>Olive oil<\/li>\n<li>Lasagne pasta<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>1. To begin, soak 400g of cashew nuts in kettle boiled water for 30 minutes, until soft. Then drain (carefully) into the sink using a colander.<\/p>\n<p>2. Add into a pan with 250g of cornflour, 3 tablespoons of Apple cider vinegar (Aldi do a reasonably priced one!), 200ml of water, four cloves of garlic and a pinch of salt. Blitz (carefully) with a food processor until smooth. Add 250ml almond milk and simmer on a low heat until thickened, then set aside.<\/p>\n<p>3. Chop and fry two whole onions in a pan with three cloves of garlic until softened &#8211; no vampires here!<\/p>\n<p>4. Add two tablespoons of tomato pur\u00e9e and a pinch of oregano\/Italian herb mix. Next add a 250ml glass of red wine (Aldi Animus is \u00a35 and works a treat here!) and continue to stir until the wine evaporates like a ghost!<\/p>\n<p>5. Add a tin of chopped tomatoes, 250ml of passata, a handful of sliced black olives and two teaspoons of capers.<\/p>\n<p>6. Slice thick chunks of aubergine and courgette &#8211; griddle until cooked through.<\/p>\n<p>7. Baste your lasagne dish with a little olive oil and begin with the cashew b\u00e9chamel sauce, then add the first layer of lasagne sheets. Add the tomato sauce layer, followed by stripes of courgettes and aubergine. Add another layer of b\u00e9chamel sauce and top with a lasagne sheet. Finish with a final layer of cashew b\u00e9chamel sauce on top.<\/p>\n<p>8. You can play this old classic privately with a group of friends or join a larger online server. There&#8217;s also an exclusive Halloween &#8216;Vampire Castle&#8217; theme for free until the 1st of November.<\/p>\n<h2><b>What to watch&#8230;<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Once the drinks have settled in and you&#8217;re ready to snuggle up in bed, might as well join your friends for a viewing party. Extensions such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.netflixparty.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8216;Teleparty&#8217;<\/a> (formerly known as &#8216;Netflix Party&#8217;), allow you to stream a film or series at the same time as all your friends. It also provides a chat feature so you can all comment when a jump scare eventually gets you (don&#8217;t lie, you know it will).<\/p>\n<p>We suggest some modern classics&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>The Conjuring <\/strong><\/em><strong>(2013) <\/strong>&#8211; The horror movie inspired on the real lives of &#8216;demonologists&#8217; Ed and Lorraine Warren will shake you to the core. It is the first of a franchise that has given us films like <em>Annabelle<\/em> and <em>The Nun<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Hereditary <\/strong><\/em><strong>(2018)<\/strong>&#8211; This might just possibly be the weirdest film every made. It isn&#8217;t your classic horror movie, but it sure does provide you with an eerie, uncomfortable feeling from start to end (note: THE ENDING).<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Unfriended\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><strong>(2014) &#8211;\u00a0<\/strong>This will feel very topical&#8230; Watching a horror film unravel on a Skype call when you&#8217;re on a Zoom call will definitely get your heart rate going. Maybe keep your lights on for this one.<\/p>\n<p>Some familiar classics&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The Addams Family<\/em> (1991) &#8211;\u00a0<\/strong>Many of us grew up with this comedic, spooky masterpiece. Wednesday Adams is a whole mood.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 700 !important\"><em>Dark Shadows<\/em>\u00a0(2012) &#8211;\u00a0<\/span>Another Tim Burton, this time with humans. Not <em>too\u00a0<\/em>creepy, just guaranteed fun for everyone.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The Corpse Bride (<\/em>2005) &#8211;\u00a0<\/strong>Tim Burton&#8217;s beautiful animated film.
