Fashion and Beauty’s Autumn Favourites
Autumn is well and truly upon us; the temperature is dropping, the leaves are falling, the wind is blowing, and I’m sure the question on everyone’s lips is: what are Fashion and Beauty loving right now for (arguably) the best season of the year? Well, worry no more as we have compiled our must-have items for the colder months that are well and truly getting us through the semester 1 slump.

Sudocrem
Whilst the humble Sudocrem may not be a particularly exciting choice in a fashion and beauty favourites round-up, it is a staple healing product that is needed as the cold starts to nip at our noses and dry out our skin. While its creamy, rich texture and clinical smell may remind many of their parents’ medicine cabinet, its soothing properties are great, especially for those that suffer from winter-time eczema.
It can heal dry hands, be placed on breakouts, calm down a rash, or be used as an antiseptic for small surface wounds. In many ways the modest Sudocream is modest and chic, a busy and broke student’s best tool in the run-up to the shivering winter.

Leopard and Fur
Leopard print is commonly considered to be a neutral in the fashion industry – and I couldn’t agree more. Although, this outlandish print isn’t shy, leopard is surprisingly versatile. A newfound favourite of mine, leopard print pairs perfectly to spruce up any basic outfit. As if you’re anything like me, your autumnal staple look consists of jeans and a jumper. However, when paired with a leopard print bag, trainers or even hair accessory, your look is instantly elevated.
Its resurgence – particularly in outerwear is my favourite variation of the print. Whilst the weather shifts, faux-fur jackets are resurfacing on the high street as the “it” girl coat this season. Many students (myself included) are strutting across campus in a unified “mob wife” style. It can be accessorised with gold jewellery and cat-eye sunglasses, which are used merely to conceal that I’m sleeping en route to my 9am. So, as the temperature begins to drop, I will be embracing the “Big Coat Energy” and pulling out an ensemble of fur jackets.

Scuffers Jersey Jumper
So far this season, I’ve been sporting plenty of knitwear. Autumn is my favourite time of year and I love to whip out my trusty jumpers. This years fave, my Scuffers S66S green jersey. The jumper is 100% cotton (it has since become a polyester blend) which is a rarity in clothing these days and means it’s much longer lasting.
I love a slouchy knit and never wear jumpers that actually fit me, so the Scuffers jumper is perfect. I was met with a hefty customs fee, however, as Scuffers is based in Spain, which for some reason did not cross my mind in the slightest, but if you’re looking for good knitwear that lasts, Scuffers is the way to go.
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream
This may be a holdover from my 2014 Zoella days, but the Eight Hour Cream is a cold weather godsend. I’ve put my mother, my friends, and anyone that will listen to me onto this balm. Dry lips, dry cuticles, eczema, itchy scar, or want a bit of glow in your face? Eight Hour Cream. It can be slightly greasy which may not sound so appealing, but it really does the job if you can withstand the tackiness.

M&S White Coconut Eau de Toilette
I love this perfume because it’s really affordable – perfect for the student budget – but still smells great. It has a warm vanilla base which is ideal for autumn yet the coconut makes it a versatile year-round scent. Plus, it comes with a matching body wash and body butter and using them all together makes you smell incredible! Also, the packaging has a nice minimal, luxury look to it and looks more expensive than it is, making it a great addition to my desk.
Loccitane Shea Butter Hand Cream
This product’s packaging is so aesthetic that I love displaying it with my perfumes, and the best part- it actually works! So many hand creams don’t provide long-term protection, so finding one that works and also looks nice is a bit of a rare gem. I found this especially helpful after cycling to uni in the cold which tends to dry out my hands. The smell is fresh but subtle, and it doesn’t agitate the skin or leave a greasy feel which is great.

La Roche-Posay Toleriane Sensitive Moisturiser
I’m sure I’m not the only one whose skin goes into panic mode when the weather turns colder, but La Roche-Posay’s Toleriane Sensitive Moisturiser has been my saviour this season. My skincare routine definitely shifts from summer to winter, and this is one of the products I rely on to keep my skin happy after braving the cold. It’s a little on the pricey side, but totally worth the investment for how soothing it is. Make sure you apply it to your neck and chest too – trust me, your skin will thank you!
Knitted Jumpers
I love a good oversized jumper, especially as the weather cools. This season, I’ve been all about knitwear, and Hollister’s slouchy off-the-shoulder jumpers have basically become my uniform. They give that cozy-but-not-too-casual vibe, which is great for when you want to look like you made an effort without, well, making an effort. There are a ton of cute options this year for Autumn, but the off-the-shoulder style has to be my top pick for feeling both relaxed and a little more dressed up.
