Beyond the festivities and frosty air, sometimes all you need is a cosy spa retreat to relax from the hustle and bustle of the Christmas rush. The Marriott Hotel Manchester Piccadilly just launched their new spa treatment menu, and it may just be the perfect remedy. Whether it’s a long day of getting through the Christmas gift list, or finishing up on those last-minute December deadlines, there is no doubt you’ll leave feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Head and Deputy Lifestyle editors, Mila and Billie, were lucky enough to attend the launch event, so best believe we have all the inside scoop and recommendations for you…

Ranging from facials to massages and exfoliations, there is definitely something for everyone. Upon arrival, we were offered welcome mocktails and robes before heading into our first treatment: the Coconut Comfort Ritual. Priced at a standard £69 for 40 minutes, our 25-minute taster was already enough to transcend us to a state of deep relaxation. The dim lights, paired with the calming background music and lavender-scented air, set the scene perfectly for the treatment.

The ritual started with a facial cleanse, using warm towel mittens to gently apply the Elemis skincare products and leave our skin feeling silky-soft. This was followed by their signature ‘Indian head massage’, soothing the scalp with incorporated coconut oils to revitalise the hair, and led into a ‘décolleté’ massage to ease any tension. Starting from beneath the neck and shoulders, lengthening across the arms to the hands, we left feeling deeply tranquil and calm by the end of our sessions.

Not only do they offer other signature treatments, including the Cloud Cocoon Ritual and Back to Beautiful Ritual, but the Spa also offers treatment packages to get you even more of your money’s worth! While the Urban Escape and City Luxe Retreat packages are both great options for deep relaxation, we would recommend the City Serenity Duo as a more accessible price-point for our student readers. Including two 25-minute treatments of your choice, as well as access to the thermal suite and a robe, slippers and towel, the cost of this package ranges from £79 pp on a weekday to £89 pp on a weekend. Considering the quality of care, standard pricing, and how serene we felt after just one treatment, we would definitely recommend this as the perfect gift to yourself or treat with a friend… plus, you can never go wrong with a glass of Prosecco for just an extra £5!

We ended the event with a 60-minute sound healing bath led by the renowned gut-health specialist Helen O’Brien; incorporating alchemy bowls, gongs, drums and chimes. Speaking to the staff and attendees of this launch, we both found how we all were in needing to come for an evening of tuning back into the present moment, and allowing time for ourselves to relax, reflect and heal (something few of us do often enough). So whether it’s to have a couple hours to yourself, a cute afternoon with friends or even just meet other like-minded individuals, the new Spa Treatment Menu at the Marriott Manchester Hotel Piccadilly is definitely worth giving a visit!

Thank you again to the Marriott Manchester for inviting us to, and hosting, such a wonderful event, and highlighting the importance of self-care and mindfulness in a city as busy as the capital of the north!
