Royal Exchange Theatre welcomes a new Beginning

38 Laura hosts a messy house-warming for her new ‘fancy’ flat. The boozy atmosphere promises Laura that her boring, single, sensible life is reaching its climax. Danny, with his ketchup-stained shirt and faulty ‘radar’, has everything a woman needs to lose themselves in a post-party affair. Amidst the fog of afterparty sweat, dancing, fish finger butties and millennial banter a life-changing opportunity reveals itself to Laura, this man, this relationship, could be her new Beginning.

This beautifully intimate play by David Eldridge stars just two actors: Erin Shanagher (Laura) and Gerard Kearns (Danny). The direction of Bryony Shanahan guides this contemporary story through an artistic and comic lens. Beginning was a crowd-puller at the National Theatre in 2017 and we can’t wait to see the exploration of Laura’s ‘prime’ for ourselves.

Beginnings runs at the Royal Exchange Theatre from February 18 to March 11.

Beginning has an age guidance of 14+, the show is 1hr 50minutes long with no intervals. Standard tickets range from £10 – £40. A limited number of £7 Under 30s and Pay What You Decide tickets are available.
